This week, @ISPOR Atlanta, we organized a forum “Economic Insights Into Nutrition: Unlocking the Value in Chronic Disease Management. ” This forum examined the burden of diet-related chronic diseases and the state of the science on the effectiveness of community-based interventions to improve nutrition and reduce the risk of chronic disease. .

Mark Nuijten (A2M) shared his experience of applying health economics evaluation for nutrition interventions. The key message is that the prove of the clinical benefit of nutrition is not the real hurdle for cost-effectiveness analyses of nutrition, but mainly the need for a change of paradigm by HTA bodies to consider also non-RCT data.
